The reduction of Mn*+ has been studied in formamide, dimethyl formamide and acetonitrile Mn2+ gives well defined current/voltage curves in aqueous and non-aqueous media. The kinetic parameters K, and a have been calculated by means of Matsuda's and Gellings' theoretical treatments in water, aqueous mixtures and non-aqueous media. The effect of solvent is discussed in the light of dielectric constant, viscosity, solvation and chemical nature of solvent.
