-The kinetics of the oxidation of methanol to formaldehyde, over iron molybdate as catalyst, have been studied. The kinetic runs have been performed with a CSTR reactor. The results can be described with a kinetic model derived on the basis of a redox mechanism partially hindered by the adsorption of water. The low temperatures used in the reactor (200-250°C) favour the formation of by-products, as dimetoxymethane. dimethyl ether and methylformate.
