β¦ Synopsis
The rate constant t-or the formation of H:(I):) at (86 I 3)"K by the three-body process x'3 H:+2H2--+ H;+H2 has been dercrmined (k3(H) = (2.16 t 0.10) X 10-2B cm6/molecule2sec and k3(D) = (1.47 + 0.20) X 10-28 cm61 mo!ecule2sec) in a high pressure mass spectrometer. Comparison of this result with published rate data at 300Β°K indicates the reaction has an apparent activation energy of -I .5 kcal/mole.
