✦ Synopsis
The prewave in pulse polarography could be either diffusion controlled, if caused by the fast, equilibrated adsorption of the product of the reversible redox reaction, or kinetically controlled if the product adsorption is slow and non-equilibrated. The criteria are given for distinguishing between these two different cases.

## Abstract Components of the net response in differential pulse polarography were studied theoretically, assuming gradually changing electrode rate constant or strength of the reactant adsorption. The difference between the maximum potential of the peak component and the half‐wave potential of the
Calibration curves built up from normal pulse polarography limiting currents are discussed. The following basic assumption is made: labile metal macromolecule complexation, induced adsorption and reversible electrochemical reduction. Nonlinear plots are obtained, either from homogeneous complexation
