โœฆ Synopsis

The initial stages of methane thermal decomposition on the surface of three carbon blacks were studied at 815ยฐC in the pressure range l-8 atm. The reaction rate in the initial stage depends on the properties of the carbon surface. The rate for the graphitized channel black is considerably lower than that for the thermal black. The highest rate was observed for the non-graphitized channel black surface. The reaction rate changes with time and reaches a steady-state value which depends on experimental conditions. The formation of a steady state surface was found to occur at carbon black weight increase over 60 per cent. The experimental data agree well with earlier proposed chain mechanism of methane thermal decomposition.

The thermal decomposition of FSOOSFB, P, in the presence of CO has been investigated between 130.1" and 161.9"C at total pressures between 50 and 600 torr. The reaction is homogeneous, and the only final products formed are C02 and S2F10. The rate of reaction is proportional to the pressure of P. Th

The influence of the mass transfer phenomena on the thermal decomposition of calcium carbonate powders under vacuum was investigated through a detailed kinetic analysis by the constant transformation rate thermal analysis (CRTA). Reliable kinetic curves, free from the mass transfer problems, can be
