We have determined at various temperatures the frequency of ihe intramolecular electron transfer between the phthalimide groups, (PI), of the radical anions PI-CHZ--(cycIohexsne)-CHz-PI-(in which the substituents are placed in the equatorial positions on carbon atoms 1 and 4 or 1 and 3 of the cyclohexane ring) and compared i: with the frequency of intramolecular exchange in the flexible radical anions PI-(CH2),-PI-and PI-(CHz)s -PI-, respectively.
