Videomicroscopy in combination with evanescent field illumination is applied to study the sorption of colloidal particles from flow in a parallel plate channel on a glass surface. The experiments, carried out in the presence of a repulsive electrostatic barrier, reveal surprisingly complex results:

We study the sorption of colloids on equally charged surfaces. Our focus is on the time scale from hours to weeks, where adsorption is not an irreversible process but interplays with (spontaneous) desorption. Using model calculations, we show how the desorption kinetics is influenced by readsorption
Carboxyl polystyrene latex microspheres ( \(245 \mathrm{~nm}\) diameter), synthesized willout surfactants (Interfacial Dynamics Corp., Portland, OR), were used for deposition rate experiments in beds of ultrapure granular quartz sand (Unimin, New Canaan, CT). The latex particles and quartz grains we
This paper presents experimental studies of the deposition of silicone oil drops onto two different solid surfaces in an aqueous solution. A series of deposition tests were conducted to measure the dimensionless mass transfer rate (Sherwood number). The effects of three kinds of aqueous solutions an
In this article, analytical and numerical solutions are given for the deposition of spherical particles onto cylindrical solid surfaces. If only the retarded van der Waals (vdW) force and the electrical double-layer (EDL) force between the spherical particle and the cylindrical surface are considere
