✦ Synopsis
The kinetics of CO hydrogenation over coprecipitated 36 wt% was studied in a Ðxed-bed microreactor at atmospheric pressure. Co/Al 2 O 3 Intrinsic kinetic data were obtained in the initial rate region using four di †erent CO concentrations and two di †erent ratios over the 473È523 K tem-H 2 /CO perature range. The surface carbide mechanism with dissociative adsorption of hydrogen as the rate controlling step gives the most plausible kinetic model among the eight di †erent models tested. production rates are found to be C 1 ÈC 4 strongly inÑuenced by temperature, and optimum hydrocarbon selectivity C 1 ÈC 4 is obtained at 508 K. The activation energy for CO consumption and for-CH 4 mation are calculated as 74 ^2 kJ mol~1 and 84 ^2 kJ mol~1 respectively.
