✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Thermal decomposition of imipramine hydrochloride and trimipramine maleate has been investigated isothermally and nonisothermally. The kinetic parameters, namely the activation energy E~a~ and the Arrhenius preexponential term A, were calculated. Applying the theory of activated complex to the process of decomposition one calculated Ξ”__S__^β‰ ^, Ξ”__H__^β‰ ^, and Ξ”__G__^β‰ ^ for the reaction. The values of E~a~ as well as the thermodynamic functions did not vary significantly with temperature of the reaction whereas the preexponential term showed a significant dependence on the reaction temperature. Both imipramine hydrochloride and trimipramine maleate showed two main steps of decomposition. Each step proved to be a first‐order reaction. The rate constant was calculated for each step, and the results were analyzed statistically. Β© 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 35: 166–179, 2003

## Abstract The kinetics of gas‐phase decomposition of methyl isocyanate have been investigated in the range of 427–548Β°C. Two decomposition routes are followed; the predominant one is a radical‐chain process giving CO, H~2~, and HCN as major products, which has an order of 1.5 and an Arrhenius equ

The kinetics of the gas-phase decomposition of ethyl, isopropyl, and t -butyl isocyanates have been studied in the temperature range of 380-530OC. t -Butyl isocyanate decomposes almost exclusively by a unimolecular route to isobutene and HNCO, but in EtNCO and i - PrNCO this route competes with a fr

Decomposition studies of trichlorosilane, dichlorosilane, and monochlorosilane at and respectively, are reported. The studies were made at fixed reactant 921 K, 872 K, 806 K, pressures over a range of total pressures in a wall conditioned, quartz reactor connected to a quadrupole mass-spectrometer.
