The kinetics of the solid-liquid transition in tin have been studied using a thermal wave technique. The relationship between interface velocity V and local undercooling 6 T is found to be linear, i.e. l' = ,&T with the kinetic constant ,u equal to 0.007, 0.008 and 0.019 cm/se0 "C for motion in the
