✦ Synopsis


The rates and activation energy parameters of halide ligand substitution in PdXf (X = Cl-, Br-), with N-alkyl substituted thioureas in aqueous halo acid solutions have been determined for the first kinetically distinguishable step. Ligand and product composition is substantiated by analytical data. Low enthalpies and an appreciably negative entropy of activation accompany high rates of reaction.

The rate law in each case is kobs = k /L], where L = N-alkylsubstituted thioureas and k, the &and dependent rate constant at 25 "C
