Abstract
The transesterification of methyl acetate and nβbutanol catalyzed by cationβexchange resin, NKCβ9, was studied in this work to obtain the reaction kinetics. The experiments were carried out in a stirred batch reactor at different temperatures (328.15, 333.15, 338.15, 343.15, 345.15 K) under atmospheric pressure. The effects of temperature, molar ratio of reactants, and catalyst loading on the reaction rate were researched under the condition of eliminating the effect of diffusion. The experimental data were correlated with a kinetic model based on the pseudoβhomogeneous catalysis. The kinetic equation describing the reaction catalyzed by NKCβ9 was developed.
