โœฆ Synopsis

The kinetics of the eledrophilic substitution of several trialkyltin chlorides by iodine monochloride are presented. Rate constants have been determined at four different temperatures and the activation parameters A, En, and AS"= are calculated. A mechanism is proposed involving charge-transfer as the driving force for the substitution. 0 1993 John Wiley &. Sons. Inc.

The use of iodine monochloride (IC1) as a thermal source of chlorine atoms in known concentration is discussed with particular reference to the suppression, by large excesses of iodine, of the chain processes normally associated with chlorine atom reactions. The kinetics and mechanism of the reactio
