✦ Synopsis

We studied the ligand-displacement reaction of the Xylenol Orange complexes of Eu, Tb, and La with EDTA in a cetylpyridinium chloride micellar medium and determined the optimal conditions for the kinetic spectrophotometric determination of the different binary mixtures of the three rare earths, which were quantified over the ranges 0.061-0.532, 0.063-0.556, and 0.055-0.486 g ml -1 Eu, Tb, and La, respectively, with the aid of a partial least-squares (PLS) multivariate calibration procedure.
