✦ Synopsis

The asymmetric dihydroxylation of unsaturated spiroacetals 1, 2, 3 was effected using the cinchona alkaloid ligands (DHQ)2-PHAL, (DHQD)2-PHAL and DHQ-IND, DHQD-IND with OsO4, K3Fe(CN)6 and methanesuffonamide. Kinetic resolution of the spiroacetals was achieved and the reactions were monitored by chiral gas chromatography. (~) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd
