✦ Synopsis
Abstract
The magnetic field generation by relativistic transverse plasmons is investigated using a kinetic description. It is shown that the behavior of self‐generated magnetic fields can be described by nonlinear coupling equations. Numerical results show that a magnetic field self‐generated by relativistic laser irradiation may collapse, leading to enhancement of the magnetic field up to ten Gigagauss in extremely small volumes, which is coincident with the estimated magnetic field strengths in experiments on the critical surface.
