β¦ Synopsis
Two new indole nucleosides kahakamides A (1) and B (2) were isolated from the actinomycete Nocardiopsis dassonvillei, obtained from a shallow water sediment sample collected on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Compounds 1 and 2 are related to the neosidomycin antibiotics, a group of rare indole-N-glycosides, and their structures were determined using spectroscopic methods. Compound 1 exhibited antimicrobial activity toward the Gram positive bacterium Bacillus subtilis.
