✦ Synopsis
The present paper deals with three topics. First of all, it is demonstrated that there existed in fact a Kassite king Kadas ˇman-Enlil ("IIa") between Nazi-Maruttas ˇand Kadas ˇman-Turgu. He was a brother of his predecessor and the uncle of his successor, but sat on the Babylonian throne for only a few months during his accession year, so that the length of his reign must be counted as zero. Second, the length of the reign of the Kassite kings Kurigalzu II, Nazi-Maruttas ˇ, Kadas ˇman-Turgu, and Kadas ˇman-Enlil II can be shortened by one year each. This results in a reduction of altogether four years as opposed to the conventional reckoning. So one gets for the first full year of Burna-Burias ˇII a date of approximately 1350 (± 3) B. C. Finally, a reconsideration of the kinship relation that existed between the Kassite kings Kadas ˇman-Turgu and Kas ˇtilias ˇu IV leads me to conclude that Kudur-Enlil and S ˇarakti-S ˇurias ˇwere both brothers of Kadas ˇman-Enlil II and therefore belong with him to one and the same generation.
