โฆ Synopsis
Dipotassium molybdenyl diphosphate is built up from ribbons of MoO 6 octahedra linked to P 2 O 7 groups running along the c axis. The K + cations are located in the channels delimited by anionic (MoO 2 P 2 O 7 ) n ribbons. The structure contains MoP 2 O 11 units, in which each P 2 O 7 group shares two of its apices with an MoO 6 octahedron. The title compound is isotypic with (NH 4 ) 2 MoO 2 P 2 O 7 . K 2 MoO 2 P 2 O 7 (one-dimensional) is related structurally to Na 2 VOP 2 O 7 (two-dimensional) and -BaV 2 (P 2 O 7 ) 2 (three-dimensional), all of them being built up from MP 2 O 11 (M = Mo, V) units.
