Stress intensity factor solutions for very shallow and very deep cracks in an edge-cracked strip are discussed. Expressions are presented for both cases which appear to be more accurate and easier to apply than those in the literature. Based on the treatment of these two limiting cases an expression is proposed for any ratio of crack size to strip width.
