## Abstract Natural single crystals of calcite have been cleaved along (100) planes and cleavage faces have been etched in 2% and 3% citric acid solutions. Etching produces twin boundaries oriented in ใ010ใ directions. The etch pits on the two sides of the twin boundary are oppositely oriented. It
