The Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Ultrasound announces the winners of the Joseph H. Holmes Award of 1985, Drs. B. C. Eriksen and s. H.

Eik-Nes of the University of Trondheim. This award, which is sponsored by John Wiley and Sons, Inc., and supported by Siemens Medical Systemqis given for the authors' significant contribution to the assessment of the patient with threatened abortion. In this complex clinical situation difficult diagnostic problems, whose resolutions have an important impact on obstetrical management, frequently arise. Drs. Eriksen and Eik-Nes have shown that ultrasound provides the information needed to make the correct diagnosis in 99% of these cases and thus is the method of choice in such circumstances. With this knowledge, the clinical management of threatened abortion should be significantly improved.
