Information Resources Inc said that Australia stands to lose its selfsufficiency in transportation fuels and increase its dependence on OPEC imports. Several GTL projects targeted at products other than transportation fuels are expected to begin in Australia, such as Syntroleum's proposed $315 M Sweetwater GTL plant for producing 10,000 bbl/day and Methanex's planned 1.5 bn methanol plant.
