โœฆ Synopsis

It is well known that the penetration depth of high velocity rods is inversely proportional to the square root of the target density. Hence, it is expected that low density targets are more effective than high density targets in defeating shaped charge jets. However, careful analysis of real jets -with velocity gradients, penetrating targets constrained by fixed areal weight, shows that this is not always the case. Moreover, it was found that there is an optimum value of target density (port) for maximizing jet erosion. This effect was also verified experimentally.

## Abstract An expression has been derived for predicting the penetration depth of vertical jets into fluidized beds based on the experimental observations of several workers. The expression correlates a wide range of data with reasonable accuracy and is suggested as a useful working equation for d
