✦ Synopsis

In this review the phenomenon of jet-lag is described and the causal mechanisms are considered. The theoretical basis for a variety of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments designed to alleviate the symptoms of jet-lag is discussed, and the evidence of clinical efficacy is outlined. The wider implications of jet-lag as a possible model of circadian abnormalities underlying mental disorders is briefly considered.
