The idea (If a multi-application smartcard operating system is not a new one, but only recently the smartcard industry is catching up with proper software and hardware architectures that contribute in the anticipated evolution. In this article we survey the major proposed architecture, the Java Card API, and comment on its applicability and performance, along with investigating the entirely new security demands imposed both on the smartcard operating system and on the applications. '

Although it is somewhat of a clichΓ© that computers are revolutionizing education, it is still not common to find computer-based interactive curricular material. Internet technologies are likely to change this situation by providing standards based on virtual machines and meta-languages. Adopting the
