Brazil: cleaners market posts slight growth

The Brazilian cleaners market posted a slight rise in sales in 2001. Sales of household cleaners were over Real 6 bn in 2001, a rise of 2% on a year earlier. In terms of volume, consumption was unchanged at 2.7 M tonnes. The high dollar rate and the rising price of oil are a source of concern in 2002 as prices can only be partly passed on to consumers.
