Sakai Chemical operates a 60,000 tonnes/y TiO 2 plant at Onahama. The company is also one of the country's leading suppliers of denitrification catalysts and was the first company to offer honeycomb catalysts for denitrification, cleaning up stack gases from power stations and waste incineration units. Sakai also sells ozone-destroying catalysts for use in photocopiers and room air-cleaners. The company recently announced that it is stepping up its integrated production from TiO 2 to catalysts.
