he week of January 16 through January T 22,1994, produced the kind of weather for which many LDCs have been waiting. Extremely cold temperatures prevailed throughout major portions of the United States, along with overcast skies and generally high winds.
Only with such extreme conditions can LDCs calibrate their planning assumptions regarding design weather conditions and supply deliverability. Although it is too early for the gas companies to have compiled detailed statistical assessments of their January experience, anecdotal information and general trends have already emerged.
