Esta é a história pessoal de Adam Kay, que utilizou o seu extraordinário sentido de humor para contar a sua experiência enquanto médico interno no Serviço Nacional de Saúde britânico. Em 2010, após seis anos de formação e outros seis como médico, abdicou da profissão por sentir que as condições impostas pelo sistema eram extremas e irracionais, nomeadamente remuneração mal ajustada em relação ao nível de responsabilidade exigido, que tiveram um forte impacto na sua vida profissional e pessoal.
