Hoyt, MD, gave the William F. Hoyt Lecture; William D. Mathers, MD, gave the Whitney Sampson Lecture; Edward L. Howes Jr., MD, gave the Lorenz E. Zimmerman Lecture; Jack T. Holladay, MD, MSEE, FACS, gave the Barraquer Lecture; George O. Waring III, MD, gave the Castroviejo Lecture; Edward G. Buckley, MD, gave the Marshall M. Parks Lecture; and B. Thomas Hutchinson, MD, gave the Robert N. Shaffer Lecture. Additional awards presented at the Academy include the following: The Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award to Peter R. Egbert, MD, and Marilyn J. Scudder, MD; the Straatsma Award for Excellence in Residency Education to Nicholas J. Volpe, MD; and the International Blindness Prevention Award to Hannah B. Faal, MD. Mr. Hans R. Grieshaber was also named an Honorary Fellow.
