✦ Synopsis
Sensitive gas-filled proportional counters are ideal for the rapid elemental analysis of geological materials by isotope-source XRF. They have, however, hardly been used for this purpose because of their relatively poor energy resolution and consequent difficulties associated with overlap corrections. In this paper, a new method for handling signal deconvolution is described, which greatly improves the practical application of the technique to multi-element geological and environmental materials.
