โฆ Synopsis
Polygonal systems, corresponding to polycyclic conjugated hydrocarbons with arbitrary ring sizes, are studied. For the cases of two and three rings, generations of all C.H, isomers are indicated, and explicit formulae are given for their numbers. The symmetry groups are accounted for. Furthermore, a partial solution for the case of four rings is furnished. The combinatorial methods, which are employed, are based on some simple principles. They include the polygon-edge sum (Cq), viz. the sum of all ring edges taken individ-ualty.
