## Abstract A sporulation mutant of __Bacillus subtilis__ 168 was isolated and characterized. The mutant, designated SBโ€23, releases viable forespores at the end of the developmental period. Forespores were isolated on linear Renografin gradients and used as a source of forespore membranes. The pro
