✦ Synopsis

An oxychloroniobium(IV) complex was isolated for the first time by zinc reduction of NbC1 s in concentrated HCI solution. The product, an extremely moisture-and airsensitive, intense blue solid was assigned a dimeric structure (I-I30)z[NbzO2C16] based on elemental analysis, i.r. and u.v.-vis spectroscopy as well as magnetic and conductometric measurements.
