✦ Synopsis
Aqua and aqua-chloride complexes of Al III and In III have been isolated from aqueous solutions and structurally characterized by X-ray analysis as supramolecular adducts with cucurbituril. Using this approach, trans-[InCl 2 (H 2 O) 4 ] + and trans-[InCl 4 (H 2 O) 2 ] -species were detected and isolated for the first time as parts of supramolecular assemblies of [InCl 2 (H 2 O) 4 ] 3 Cl 3 •(C 36 H 36 N 24 O 12 )•4H 2 O (1) and (H 3 O) 3 -[InCl 4 (H 2 O) 2 ] 3 •2(C 36 H 36 N 24 O 12 )•17H 2 O (2).
