✦ Synopsis

of Plant Ecology and algae Systematics, University of Bayreuth

From isolated lichen algae of the genus Trebouxia, D e Puymaly isoenzymes of phosphoglucomutase, malate dehydrogenase and superoxide dismutase were studied by isoelectric focusing in hybrid immobilized pH gradients. Phosphoglucomutase has proven to be a suitable marker since it is highly variable whereas malate dehydrogenase and superoxide dismutase are less variable. The focusing patterns are species specific and provide a basis for a reevaluation of species classification of Trebouxia.
