The direct measurement of caloric properties of model systems for natural gas is of great technical interest. Therefore, integral Joule-Thomson effects and isobaric enthalpy increments have been measured for two (methane + ethane + water) compositions and three (methane + water) compositions. The fl

✦ Synopsis
Isobaric enthalpy increment and isenthalpic Joule᎐Thomson effect measurements on synthetic gas containing binary, or ternary mixtures of methane, ethane, propane, and nitrogen are presented. The experimental results are presented as isobaric heat capacities C and p Joule᎐Thomson coefficients . The measurements were performed in the gas phase over the temperature range 140 K to 345 K, and pressure range 0.17 MPa to 14.2 MPa. The measurements were carried out in an electrically-heated flow calorimeter. A comparison with the SRK equation of state is also given.
