Normal Parotid Parenchyma surrounding tumor in PSP Capsule Exposure throughout ECD and in PSP where the tumor abuts the Facial nerve Results The 8 ECD patients had a mean of 80% (71 99%) of the capsule exposed. The 4 PSP procedures had 21% (4 50%) of the capsule exposed (p<0.05). Chi Squared Analysis was performed. No case had capsule rupture. There were no cases of permanent or transient facial nerve dysfunction in either group. No patient subjectively complained of Frey's syndrome. The starch iodine test was not performed. 1/8 (12%) ECD patients had ear numbness. 4/4 (100%) PSP had ear numbness (p<0.05%).
