Abstract
A novel procedure, atomβtransfer radical polymerization using activators generated by electron transfer (AGET ATRP) mediated by iron catalyst, was developed, using an oxidatively stable FeCl~3~/triphenylphosphine as a catalyst complex, ascorbic acid as a reducing agent, and methyl methacrylate as a monomer. The polymerization can be conducted successfully in the presence of a limited amount of air and shows the features of βlivingβ/controlled freeβradical polymerizations such as numberβaverage molecular weights increasing linearly with monomer conversion and narrow molecular weight distributions. The living feature of the obtained polymer was further verified by a chain extension experiment.

## Abstract The iron(III)βcatalyzed atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of methyl methacrylate (MMA) was successfully employed using tributylphosphine (TBP) and trimethylphosphite (TMP) as ligands in the absence of a reducing agent. The effects of solvent and initiator on polymerization of
Methyl methacrylate (MMA) can be polymerized by the charge-transfer complex formed by the interaction of melamine (MM), MMA and carbon tetrachloride in a non-aqueous solvent like dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) or N-N-dimethylformamide. The polymerization can be accelerated by Lewis acids like Fe 3+. Thi
Polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) by the charge-transfer complex formed by the interaction of 2,2-bipyridine (bpy), MMA, and carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 ) was studied in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) at 60ΠC. The rate of polymerization (R p ) is sensitive to the [CCl 4 ] at low concentration of
