✦ Synopsis
Competitive iron-mediated cycloaddition of butadiene with butadiene versus cycloaddition of butadiene with alkynes in Fe
) complexes in the gas phase, observed using Fourier transform mass spectrometry (FTMS), is described. The preference for 14 +2] cycloaddition between lgbutadiene and alkynes over butadienelbutadiene cycloaddition is observed. Reactions of Fe(C,H,); with labeled ethyne and propyne, collision-activated dissociation (CAD) studies, RaCtiOR kinetics, and their branching ratios are discussed.
