## Abstract Optical and luminescence properties of the Bridgman‐grown Cd~1–__x__ –__y__~ Be__~x~__ Zn__~y~__ Se and Zn~1–__x__ –__y__~ Be__~x~__ Mg__~y~__ Se crystals are reported. Spectroscopic ellipsometry was employed for determination of spectral dependence of the complex dielectric function $
Zn 1-x-y Be x Mn y Se solid solutions were grown from the melt by the high pressure Bridgman method. Optical, luminescence, photoelectric and photothermal properties of this material were investigated. Interpretation of the piezoelectrically detected photoacoustic spectra was performed using Jackson
Magnetisation and EPR investigations were performed in mixed Zn 1--x--y Be x Mn y Se crystals. For crystals containing about 3% of Mn the transition from paramagnetic to antiferromagnetic behaviour is observed with temperature decreasing from 300 to 12 K. EPR spectra of all samples show the g-factor
