Infrared (IR) and laser Raman spectra of new peroxo jluoro species of zirconium, M3 [Zr,(O,),F,] (0.6-2)H,O, where M is K, Rb Cs and NH,, have been studied. l%e characteristic band due to ~(0-0) vibration is observed around 840-850 cm-' both in IR and Raman spectra, showing the presence of triangularly linked bidentate peroxo group in them. i%e IR spectra of the species exhibit broad absorption envelopes around 375-4 7.5 and 240-3.50 cm-' attributable to Zr-F stretching and bending vibrations. The strong Raman band observed around 150-160 cm-' is assigned to the symmetric vibration involving bridged jluorine in a

ZAZr type linkage. The water associated with the species is lattice held.
