✦ Synopsis
Binary ionogenic equilibria tRX + MtX..~-R+MtX2+1 ~R* + MtX..~, R = ~b3C. (pCIC6H,,)3C; X = CI; Mt = Hg) are studied in CH2CI 2 by conductivity and u.v. spectroscopy. The importance of such studies to cationic polymerisation is emphasised. The equilibrium constants, the thermodynamic parameters and the molar conductivities of the individual ions are given and the results discussed both in terms of a comparison between the two systems studied and in terms of a comparison with similar data in the literature.
