Abstract
The ionisation constants of Nβ0βtolylβpβsubstituted benzohydroxamic acids have been determined in 10β70% v/v dioxaneβwater media at 25 and 35Β±0.1Β°C. The pK~a~'s in aqueous media (at 10% dioxane) have been obtained using the method of extrapolation and least squares. The pK~a~ values vary linearly with the mole fraction of dioxane. These constants are tested for the applicability of the Hammett equation.
