✦ Synopsis
Ionic binding is affected in pressure-sensitive acrylate-bwed copolymers containing carboxylic groups by introduction of Na ions. The tack and peel force of pressuresensitive polymers decreased and the resistance to creep increased with increasing degree of ionic binding. An infrared spectroscopic method for the assay of sodium content has been developed based on the ratio of absorbances at 5.75 and 6.28 fi due to ester carboxyl and ionized carboxyl, respectively.

A detailed study of the mobility of a tackifying resin in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) has been done for the first time. The objective of this work is to relate changes in adhesive performance with tackifier loading to tackifier mobility. Tackifiers are low-molecular weight resins that improv
Twenty-three wt % aqueous tackifier dispersion based on glycerol ester abietic acid (T g ϭ 64°C, M w ϭ 940) was added to emulsion polymer 50/32/15/3 poly(2ethyl hexyl acrylate-co-vinyl acetate-co-dioctyl maleate-co-acrylic acid) pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA). ## Abstract High‐gel containing latices and gel‐free latex were blended at various weight ratios. The high‐gel containing latices was made of poly(2‐ethyl hexylacrylate‐__stat__‐acrylic acid) and the gel‐free latex was made of poly(2‐ethyl hexylacrylate‐__stat__‐acrylic acid‐__stat__‐isobutoxymethy
