✦ Synopsis
A monoclinic polymorph of the title compound, [Sn(C 6 H 5 ) 3 I], complements the previously reported triclinic variant [Ng (1995). Acta Cryst. C51, 629-631;Simard & Wharf (1994). Acta Cryst. C50, 397-403]. There are two molecules in the asymmetric unit; in both cases, the Sn atom adopts a distorted SnIC 3 tetrahedral environment.
