โฆ Synopsis
The results of an investigation on processes of plasma formation and heating in toroidal chambers are outlined. The experiments were performed in metallic chambers with an inner diameter of 8 to 50 cm; the toroid diameters were respectively 50 to 125 cm. The experiments were carried out with constant and alternating outer magnetic fields. The installations give the possibility to vary the magnetic field intensity.
Discharges were performed in deuterium and other gases at the pressures of lo+ to 10-a mm Hg. T-he maximum current in discharge exceeds 400 ka. The neriod of current growth as well as that of the applied external mignetic field was varied in a wide range. The investigation of the processes occurring in plasma was carried out by means of magnetic and electric probes, spectrographic technique, photo filming, registration of penetrating radiation and some other methods.
