The photochromtsm of 4-(2',4'-dmttrobenzyl)-pyndme was investgated by means of laser flash photolysis Two coloured tranaents were obserwd m the spectral ran_ees of 390-430 nm and 510-590 nm us ethanol and acetonitrde. The first band (390-430 nm, hfetune = 100-500 ns) IS the absorptton band of the aci-nitro form and the second band (510-590 run, hfetune 2 0 5 s) IS the absorptton band of the polymethme form of 4-(2',4'-duutrobenzyl)-pyrldme The measurements showed that the hfetune of the aci-mtro form depends on the energy of the laser flash m the case of the acetorutrile solutton Such dependence v.as not observed III ethanol solution. No short-hred transients were detected m n-heptane solutton
