β¦ Synopsis
The theory of the thermal diffusion column as developed by F u r r y and J o n e s for the cylindrical case has been extended to take into account the variation of the thermal diffusion constant a with temperature in the usual form a = ,4 --B'/T.
Expressions have been obtained for the column constant H which are shown to agree closely with the experimental data of N i e r o n methane. The exact evaluation of the asymmetry term Kp and of the thermal diffusion constant a from the observations on the column are discussed.
